The kitchen is the heart of the home, but what happens when that heart is closed off from the rest of the living space? That was the challenge in this recent Tampa Bay kitchen remodel.
The Challenge: A Closed-Off Layout
The original kitchen was functional but isolated. Walled off from the dining and living areas, it made entertaining difficult and blocked natural light from flowing through the home. The cabinetry was dated, and the layout didn’t maximize the available footprint.
The Solution: Opening Up the Space
Our design-build team completely reimagined the flow. By removing the dividing wall, we integrated the kitchen seamlessly into the main living area. This structural change immediately made the entire home feel larger and brighter.
We installed custom shaker cabinetry, extending it to the ceiling to maximize storage and create a more elevated, finished look. A large central island now anchors the space, providing both prep area and casual seating.
The Details That Matter
- Custom Cabinetry: Bright white shaker cabinets with soft-close hardware.
- Countertops: Durable, low-maintenance quartz with subtle veining.
- Lighting: Updated recessed lighting combined with statement pendants over the island.
- Backsplash: A classic subway tile installed in a timeless pattern.
The result is a bright, modern, and highly functional kitchen that serves as the true center of the home.
