Planning for humidity
- Vent every bathroom to the outside with a fan sized for the room, and run it long enough to clear the moisture.
- Use a vapor barrier under floating floors on concrete slabs, which most Tampa Bay homes have.
- Waterproof showers properly behind the tile. Tile and grout aren’t waterproof on their own.
- Keep the air conditioning running during and after a remodel. Fresh paint, drywall mud and wood products all settle better in conditioned air.
