Home › Blog › Interior & Exterior Painting › Sherwin-Williams Snowbound: Why This Soft White…

When considering a home improvement project, we know choosing the right color can make all the difference. With the summer sun fading away and the winter season knocking on the door, the color of this month is Snowbound. A shade of cool white with a hint of grey undertones, Snowbound can rejuvenate your home with a refreshing touch and a soothing ambiance.

What Tampa Bay Homeowners Should Know

This versatile shade can be used in a variety of applications, seamlessly transitioning from exterior painting to interior cabinetry. So, let’s dive into how you can accentuate the elegance of your home with Snowbound, guided by our experts at Bayshore Remodels.

What It Costs With Bayshore

Interior painting with Bayshore runs $4–$5 per square foot of home for walls, ceilings and trim. Painting a typical 1,500–2,000 sq ft home inside and out runs $14,000–$22,000. Every paint job carries a 2-year warranty against blistering and peeling and a 30-day touch-up visit.

Typical ranges from our recent projects. Your written estimate, built after we see your space, is what your project is priced on.

  • Interior Walls: Snowbound on the walls can create a serene backdrop for other colors, art, and décor to stand out, without feeling too stark inside.

  • Cabinetry: Perfect for kitchen or bathroom cabinets, Snowbound adds a crisp and clean feeling, enhancing the overall appeal of the space. You really can’t go wrong!

Pairing Snowbound with Complimentary Colors

One of Snowbound’s greatest strengths is its versatility in color pairing. For a calming palette, try pairing Snowbound with soft blues, reminiscent of peaceful skies. Or for more contrast, try pairing it with a deep navy. You can also balance the coolness of Snowbound with warm woods or earth tones for a cozy, inviting feel.

A few paint color pairing recommendations:

Creating Contrast with Snowbound

Snowbound’s cool undertone allows it to create a subtle yet striking contrast when paired with darker shades. Consider using it on trims, doors, or kitchen cabinets against darker walls for an attractive, high-contrast aesthetic.

Stunning Transformations with Snowbound

A fresh coat of paint or updated cabinetry can significantly transform your living spaces. A stunning white is always in style and can look great in many ways around your home.

Our thoughts? You simply can’t go wrong with Snowbound. And around here, it’s the only ‘snow’ we’re going to see. Trust us, it’s a beautiful color that will stand the test of time.

Getting Snowbound right in a Florida home

Snowbound (SW 7004) is a soft white with a slight gray undertone, and that undertone is why it behaves so well here. Bright Florida light washes out stark whites until they look blue or chalky by late afternoon. Snowbound holds its color, so cabinets and trim read as clean white in the morning and still look warm at dusk.

  • Test it in your own light. Paint a large sample board and look at it next to your countertop and floor at three times of day before you commit.
  • Check it against your stone. Next to warm granite or a creamy quartz, Snowbound can look cool. Next to white or gray quartz it looks crisp and intentional.
  • Pick the sheen for the surface. Cabinets get a factory-style satin finish that wipes clean. Walls usually look best in eggshell, and trim in satin or semi-gloss.

What it costs to put Snowbound on your cabinets

With us, cabinet refinishing starts at $5,000, and most medium kitchens land between $8,000 and $10,000. That covers the full process: degreasing, sanding, bonding primer and a sprayed commercial-grade topcoat, not a brushed-on paint job. Most kitchens are finished in a week.

Frequently asked questions

Is Snowbound too gray for cabinets?

No. The gray is subtle enough that most people just see a soft white. It only reads gray when it sits right next to a pure, bright white like High Reflective White.

What colors go with Snowbound cabinets?

Navy or deep green on an island, warm wood shelves, brushed brass or matte black hardware, and white or light gray quartz all pair well with it.

Can you use Snowbound outside?

Yes. It makes a clean exterior body or trim color, and the slight gray keeps it from glaring in full sun.
